Mamta Kulkarni and Laxmi Narayan Tripathi EXPELLED by Kinnar Akhara founder for violation of rules- Deets inside

Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni recently attended the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj where she was consecrated as the Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara. The sacred ceremony was performed by Laxmi Narayan Tripathi who has been a known figure. However, looks like the decision has not gone down well with Rishi Ajay Das, the founder of Kinnar Akhada and has expelled both of them.

According to a press release issued on January 30, 2025, Rishi Ajay Das noted, “As the founder of Kinnar Akhada, I am hereby relieving Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Laxmi Narayan Tripathi from his position as Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada, effective immediately. His appointment was made with the goal of promoting religious activities and uplifting the transgender community, but he has deviated from these responsibilities.”

Rishi Ajay Das said that Mahamandaleshwar Tripathi and others in the Akhara had committed an unconstitutional act. He believes they have acted against the principles of Sanatana Dharma by appointing Mamta Kulkarni, who has associations with the glamourous world of the film industry and has been accused of treason. “Without following any religious or akhada tradition, instead of making her renunciate, they directly conferred the title and patta of Mahamandaleshwar on her. Due to which, today I am reluctantly compelled to relieve her from the post in the interest of the country, Sanatan Dharma and society,” he said.

He alleged that Mahamandaleshwar Tripathi had made a deal with the Juna Akhara in the Kumbh Mela held in Prayagraj in 2019 without Rishi Das’ consent. He added that under this deal people were improperly joining Akharas without practicing the required rituals.

For those unversed, former actress Mamta Kulkarni gained fame in the 1990s with her performances in hit films like ‘Karan Arjun’ and ‘Baazi’. However, she got embroiled in a scandal and later left the industry. She recently confirmed having no plans of comeback and taking up the spiritual path.
